UniMove

PhD supervisors

Find the professors whose work actually matches yours.

A doctoral place is created when a funded professor decides they want a specific person. UniMove reads what a lab publishes and what funds it, ranks them against your research, and shows you what each match rests on — the paper behind it, or the grant that funds the lab — so you can judge the fit yourself instead of trusting a score.

Free, and no card. You will be asked to create an account, so your shortlist is still here when you come back.

An example, not a real professor. Real cards show the real paper or grant each match was made on.

89,200

professors

In the US and Canada, each with a funding record, not just a faculty page.

143,800

papers indexed

Each one checked as the professor’s own work, by author identity.

7,100

with their papers resolved

The ones where a match can name the publication that caused it. More every day.

48,500

funded in the last 3 years

Money that is plausibly still in the lab.

Counted against the live corpus on 4 October 2026.

Three things a directory will not tell you.

What caused the match

Every card says what it was matched on: the publication your research is closest to, with a link, or the grant that funds the lab while their papers are still being linked. A ranked list you cannot check is a list you have to take on trust.

Whether the money is still there

A professor with a grant that ended in 2019 cannot fund you. UniMove reads the award, its funder and its date, and says so on the card — including when it has no funding record at all.

What it cannot know

UniMove holds no admissions data, so it will never tell you your odds. It tells you which levers your profile gives you and which professors those levers work on. That is a different, honest claim.

Strategy, not odds.

Anyone who tells you your chances of admission is guessing. UniMove has never observed whether a single student was admitted, so it does not model that and will not pretend to. What it can do is read which levers your profile gives you — research, grades, publications — and point you at the professors those levers actually work on.
